TSP’s Expertise Highlighted in the 2022 Legal 500 Results
Thompson Smith and Puxon (TSP) are pleased to report continued recommendations in seven practice areas in the Legal 500 rankings. Once again, directors Mary Anne Fedeyko, Fiona Ashworth and Jolyon Berry are highlighted as Leading Individuals. Kerry Addison, Aileen Hirst and Robert Ashworth are all highlighted as a Next Generation Partner and a further ten lawyers are recommended in their respective practice areas.
TSP’s Corporate and Commercial team is once again rated in the top three in Colchester. The team “undertakes the entire ambit of corporate and commercial work for local and national clients. It also “has a strong profile among overseas-based entities, particularly those located in the US and Canada.” Team leader, Mary Anne Fedeyko, is noted for her “25 years of experience advising clients on complex section 110 reorganisations and demergers”. Whilst the teams “particular strengths in areas such as agriculture and healthcare, including matters relating to dental practices, GP practices and NHS contracts” are also highlighted.
Recommended Lawyer Stephen Firmin who heads up the Agriculture and Estates team was recognised for his “encyclopaedic knowledge of land law” whilst Next Generation Partner Kerry Addison“specialises in development and planning for farmers and landowners.” Both are Fellows of the Agricultural Law Association and also recommended for their Commercial Property work. Wills and Estates team leader Fiona Ashworth is a “force of nature”, dealing primarily with succession planning and administration of estates. The team’s reputation for its “estate and succession planning for farming and estate-owning clients in the South East, as well as its expertise in commercial and agricultural acquisitions and disposals’ was also praised.
The Commercial Property team are “regularly called upon to advise on a wide range of commercial property and rural land matters.” Team leader Stephen Firmin “has over 30 years of experience”, whilst Kerry Addison “is notably active in strategic land projects”.
The Wills and Estates team is “is highly prominent in the agriculture sector” with specialist advice available to clients on “farming family successions, high-value estate administrations and tax-related issues.” Team leader Fiona Ashworth is highlighted as a Leading Individual whilst Robert Ashworth and Aileen Hirst are both Next Generation Partners. Alongside their work for agricultural clients the team is highlighted for “its advice to business owners and high-net-worth individuals on lifetime and succession planning.” Other areas of expertise include “Court of Protection deputyship matters, powers of attorney and contested wills.”
Jolyon Berry continues to be a standout employment specialist who is “equally adept in contentious and non-contentious employment matters.” Jolyon’s “first-rate” Employment team retains its Top Tier in Essex rating being commended for its “excellent end-to-end user service to corporate clients on all types of business-critical issues that shape their operations on a day-to-day and long-term basis.”
Tenant disputes, defamation and contentious probate are all handled by the Dispute Resolution team led by Sharon Auton who has “more than 20 years of litigation experience and is also a trained mediator.”
Also highlighted for their work is the TSP Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team, led by Steve Webb who has a “strong track record securing favourable settlements for claimants” and is experienced in “handling a full range of personal injury and clinical negligence cases” being notably active in “high-value brain injury claims.” Chartered legal executive Stacey Anderson was recognised for her “particular expertise in medical accidents affecting women, including gynaecological and obstetric matters.”
