Thompson Smith and Puxon raise £500 for St Helena Hospice
Thompson Smith and Puxon has raised £500 for local charity St Helena Hospice. The cheque was presented to Head of Partnerships at St Helena Hospice, Greg Cooper, by Senior Partner
Mary Anne Fedeyko and Director Fiona Ashworth at the firm's annual Christmas Drinks and Canapés event. TSP was able to raise these funds by foregoing corporate gifting to clients and contacts.
St Helena Hospice offers vital services to local people facing incurable illness and bereavement and their families and carers, across north east Essex. Their work includes bereavement support, respite for carers, therapies and much more to patients and families affected by incurable illness.
TSP are honoured to be able to play a small part in giving back to the local community, enabling St Helena Hospice to carry on providing such an important and invaluable service to families.
Despite the wet weather over seventy guests gathered at Stable 6 in Colchester on Thursday 5 December. Even with the heavy rain, the event offered an joyous start to the season, with refreshments and festive carol singing.
Senior Partner Mary Anne Fedeyko remarked: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who braved the weather to join us for our annual Christmas Drinks and Canapés Party, and were delighted to have been joined by Gregory Cooper from St Helena Hospice who collected a £500 cheque raised by TSP this year for the Hospice in lieu of sending cards. It was wonderful to welcome 70 guests to our Grade II listed offices (beautifully decorated by our brilliant BD team), where we celebrated the season with festive carol singing from our talented 'unofficial' choir. Events like these represent a fantastic opportunity to bring together other key members of our professional network and show appreciation for the ongoing support of our friends, contacts, and referrers. We are honoured to have celebrated the season with such a valued group of individuals.”
Head of Partnerships at St Helena Hospice, Greg Cooper, concluded: “On behalf of St Helena I would like to thank Thompson Smith and Puxon for their very kind donation, which will directly support patients and families who receive end of life care and bereavement support at home, at the Hospice in Colchester and over the phone through our 24/7 SinglePoint advice line. We are also very thankful to the team at TSP for the incredible support that they have given in helping improve end of life care as a member of the Compassionate Community network in north east Essex. Their kindness and compassion is making a difference to the lives of others and includes supporting community events and initiatives, signposting individuals to local community providers, developing workplace bereavement policy, and helping Colchester achieve Compassionate City Status. We look forward to working together more in the future and growing this local network of support in 2025."
TSP was honoured as a Compassionate Champion earlier this year in recognition of its dedication to providing a supportive workplace for staff and delivering legal services to the community with empathy and understanding as part of a supportive framework of other organisations helping individuals navigating life’s most challenging moments through serious illness and loss.
