Essex Agricultural Society
The Essex Agricultural Society (EAS) is a registered charity that promotes agriculture and rural related industries through a year long diary of educational and social events. It has been serving the farming community in Essex for over 150 years, with some 650 farming and associated members.
TSP Director Fiona Ashworth, who heads the firm’s Wills and Estates team, has been a supporter of the EAS for many years due to her farming background. This year Fiona has stepped down from her position as an Essex Agricultural Society Council member, following a maximum four years’ service. Fellow TSP Wills and Estates Solicitor, Robert Ashworth, was elected as a Council member at the AGM on Wednesday 22nd November 2017. Thompson Smith and Puxon are corporate members of the Essex Agricultural Society and support EAS events throughout the year.
The National Trust in Essex: Coast and Countryside
Last Wednesday (29th November) Fiona Ashworth attended a meeting at The EYFC centre in Chatham Green where David Piper, the Lead Ranger for Essex and South Suffolk, entertainingly talked his way through the many and varied places the National Trust looks after across the County of Essex.
This included areas of historic interest, including an historic monument, a famous view at Flatford in Constable Country, truly historic managed woodland in Danbury and Little Baddow and a rare lowland habitat. The Trust is also working hard to secure the future of a rare moth at Copt Hall Marshes, with the assistance of Colchester Zoo's native breeding programme.
Fiona Ashworth said “Essex is filled with some beautiful, intriguing and beguiling places; David really helped to bring the County alive.”
