Essex–based Law firm Thompson Smith and Puxon (TSP) has secured an excellent set of results in the 2017 Legal 500 United Kingdom  rankings published 11 October 2017. The firm’s Corporate & Commercial and Employment practices have been promoted to First Tier (No. 1) in Essex and the firm’s Agriculture & Estates team has secured a ranking for the first time in the South East England category.

TSP has also retained its 2016 rankings in 6 other practice areas as follows:

Senior Partner, Mary Anne Fedeyko, has been singled out as a Leading Lawyer in its guide to outstanding lawyers nationwide, and four of the firm’s lawyers, Caroline Nicholls, Clare Sheeran, Sarah White and Kerry Addison, have been highlighted as Next Generation Lawyers. In total TSP has 21 individual lawyers who are recommended in their individual practice areas by the 2017 Legal 500.

Mary Anne said “It is very pleasing for the firm’s Corporate & Commercial and Employment teams to be recognised by the Legal 500 as leading the way in these practice areas in Essex. Additionally, growing and developing the firm’s agribusiness practice has been a key goal for the firm too, so to secure a ranking, in a category which covers Law firms based not just in Essex but across the South East area as a whole, is a significant result for Stephen Firmin’s team”.

The Legal 500

What is the Legal 500? Primarily a reference tool for buyers of legal services, the Legal 500 has developed over the past 25 years into the largest and most in depth survey of the UK legal market, with researchers analysing the practices of more than 1,000 law firms across the UK. Understanding the firms themselves is only one part of the research undertaken by the Legal 500 teams. Ultimately it is client opinion that matters. Firms submit details of client referees to the researchers and these are taken up and form a vital component of a firm’s evaluation.
