Insights from the Eurojuris International Conference
This year the Eurojuris International Congress brought Director Caroline Nicholls (Corporate Commercial) and Senior Associate Katie Latham (Dispute Resolution) to a surprisingly sunny Birmingham. The gathering brought together legal professionals from various sectors, from all over the world, creating a vibrant environment for learning, networking and sharing ideas. Here’s a glimpse into their experience over the two-day event and the lasting benefits they gained since attending.
Day One: Engaging presentations and immersive experiences
The weekend kicked off by heading to Birmingham University, where Caroline and Katie gathered for a day rich in history and local insight. The day began with a compelling presentation on Birmingham’s industrial heritage from a local historian, highlighting the city’s transformative role in shaping the industrial landscape. This was followed by an enlightening session from the Chamber of Commerce.
After an engaging morning, the congress embarked on a campus tour, appreciating the blend of historic and modern architecture that Birmingham University offers. This was followed by sessions with the Eurojuris Private Wealth Group for Katie and the M&A Group for Caroline to talk, network and learn with lawyers in other jurisdictions.
The evening unfolded into a delightful 1950s-themed event at the Black Country Living Museum. Caroline and Katie were transported back in time, wandering through an immersive experience of 1950s Birmingham. The evening was filled with nostalgic fun with traditional fish and chips, sweets, fairground rides and a trip to the pub before dancing the night away.
Day Two: Inspiration and celebration
Saturday morning began with an inspiring keynote address from renowned speaker Harriet Beveridge. Her engaging talk “Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?” focused on embracing change and seizing opportunities. The insights shared were not only though-provoking but also actionable, prompting many of the group to think about our approaches to challenges and opportunities in our own practices.
Following the talk, the congress enjoyed lunch, which provided the perfect opportunity to catch up with colleagues and forge new connections. They exchanged ideas and experiences, solidifying the collaborative spirit of the conference.
The day concluded with a black tie affair that showcased a modern take on Brummie cuisine. The elegant setting was perfect for networking and celebrating our shared experiences over the weekend followed by more dancing.
