Substandard Breast Surgery

Mrs D underwent a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer. After surgery she noticed a significant asymmetry in her breasts, one was significantly larger than the other. Investigations have revealed that the breasts are grossly asymmetric and that this is as a result of poor surgical care when calculating and choosing the implant size. She now requires a further operation to try and address the asymmetry but this has caused her much distress and embarrassment. Settlement negotiations are underway with the Trust involved.
