Misdiagnosis of Cancer
The TSP Clinical Negligence team has recently settled a claim on behalf of a teenage girl, Miss H. She was mistakenly diagnosed as having cancer and underwent 6 months of chemotherapy during which time she experienced the usual side effects of this type of treatment, hair loss and sickness, before being informed by the hospital that they had made a mistake and that she didn’t actually have cancer at all.
The problem experienced by Miss H is not at all uncommon and whilst she has made a full recovery from the treatment that she incorrectly received the team were able to secure £7,500 in damages for Miss H for the physical and emotional stress undergoing the treatment caused.
