Inappropriate Hospital Care

Mrs Z, 60 years old, was admitted to hospital for a relatively simple and routine procedure. Whilst in hospital she developed bed sores. Bed sores are a pressure induced injury and occur when a patient is confined to bed, in the same position, for a prolonged period of time. To combat the development of bed sores medical staff should ensure that patients who are at risk are turned regularly. In the modern medical world bed sores should not occur.

Unfortunately the bed sores led to Mrs Z contracting septicaemia, a type of blood poisoning, and she died. The TSP Clinical negligence team handled the claim on behalf of Mrs Z’s husband and was able to secure bereavement damages for him.
