Fracture Missed by A&E

The TSP Clinical Negligence team recently worked on a claim for Mr A who was working in his loft when he fell through and hurt himself. He was taken to A&E where he was told that he was badly bruised, but that was the extent of his injuries, he was encouraged to weight bear and carry on as normal. Mr A had actually fractured his pelvis. The missed diagnosis at the A&E department resulted in Mr A’s treatment and therefore recovery being delayed resulting in his reduced mobility going forward. Mr A was awarded £45,000 in compensation.
